Participant Confidentiality Agreement
Badass Academy Programs
In the course of your experience in Badass Academy programs, you will likely choose to discuss thoughts, feelings, and experiences that are very personal and which you may not have shared with anyone else, including your parents or guardian.
At Badass Academy, we respect the confidential nature of what you share, and as a general rule we will not disclose the information you share in group calls, 1:1 calls, community forums, and direct messages with anyone outside of that relationship without your consent.
However, if we have concerns about your health, safety, and/or wellness (or that of another) we will discuss those concerns within Team Badass Girls and we will come up with an appropriate course of action which will be determined by the specific circumstances.
Sometimes the course of action will include talking to your parent/guardian about what you shared with us. When possible, we will talk to you about taking this step.
Scenarios that constitute a break in confidentiality and require parental notification:
Suicidal ideation or suicide attempt
Plan to harm someone else
Self-harm, such as cutting
Activities that could cause harm to yourself or someone else, even if you do not intend to harm yourself or someone else
Physical, emotional, and/or sexual abuse; additional notification to protective services if needed
Physical or sexual assault; additional notification to protective services if needed
Except for situations as described above, your parent/guardian will not be told of specific information you disclose in the mentoring process without your knowledge unless the PGL determines it is necessary and relevant for your health, safety, or wellbeing. This includes activities and behavior that your parents/guardians might not approve of or be upset by, but do not put you or others at risk for harm. However, your mentor may encourage you to share certain information with your parents and discuss how they and the Badass Mentoring team can best support you in that process. Additionally, your mentor may choose to share general information as to your progress, status, and overall welfare with the Badass Mentoring team and/or your parents.
We strongly urge parents to respect your privacy and the general confidentiality of your experience in Badass Academy programs.
If you have any questions about confidentiality, please contact the PGL at hello@badassgirls.me.
