mentoring for

20-somethings

who want to find their place, people and purpose…

… while the world is on fire 🔥

❤️‍🔥🌀✨

already know you’re ready to dive in? ⤵️

DEAR badass 20-something,

You’re not behind.

You’re not the one secretly messed up person while everyone else succeeds wildly at this whole ‘being an adult’ thing.

You’re actually right on time — and I know it can be SO hard to believe when you’re told a toxic, one-size-fits all story of ‘adulthood’.

Want to figure out what to do with your life while the world is on fire? And actually enjoy adulthood? And not feeling like you’re secretly trying to numb your sensitivity and ‘too muchness’? And find your place, your people and your purpose?

You’re in the right place. Keep reading. I got you. I’m so excited you’re here.

👋🏻 I’m Eliza [she/they] — I’m a mentor AKA a professional big sister — it’s a little bit like a therapist, but with a more personal twist.

I help 20-somethings trust themselves, become real ass adults (however they define it), and feel more confident being their real selves.

Love,

Eliza (the new mentor you didn’t know you needed yet)

“Having Eliza as a mentor is like having the best big sister you can tell anything to. I feel like there’s me ‘before mentoring’ and ‘after mentoring’. It’s that simple. My whole life changed.”

- Anja, age 19

Let’s get real about it, huh?

College was never going to save you + make you a real adult.

But we’re all told to wait until 18 (at least here in the U.S.) and then we’ll be ‘grown up’ — and we’ll know everything (cut to: you realize you secretly know almost nothing at 18 — ha).

It’s your life that makes you a real adult.

It’s how you let your life change you (the heartbreaks and the joys).

It’s the support you get so that you can walk through your life intentionally.

Real talk: you’re a pretty magical human. And there are a lot of things in your life that are really, really great. But… there’s that thing (or things) that you wish were a little (or a lot) better. It could be the friendship stuff, or the dating and sex stuff, or the anxiety and stress stuff, or the hot mess of family stuff, or the bad periods stuff, or the body image and food stuff, or the feelings stuff… or, or, or… a combo of ALL the things that it is to be alive AND have the world be on fire AND be a badass young adult socialized as a girl.

It’s a lot, right?

Being YOU — the real you — in a world that often tells us to fit in, get it perfect the first time, and just be nice.

So when you think forward to this next season of your life (ya know: ADULTHOOD) it brings up some feelingsmaybe you feel really excited about the freedoms (!!), maybe you feel kinda nervous/terrified you’re gonna make a mess of it (or you already are), maybe you feel chaotic and foggy and lost — like you don’t really know which direction to go, maybe pain from the past (childhood or teen stuff) is resurfacing in a really painful and scary way when you really want to just be getting a fresh start, maybe you feel full of hopeful, big dreams and then your practical lived life looks like a big old WHOMP of nothing… and you wonder if you’re crazy — or something else.

Whichever way you’re feeling… one thing is true: you dream of this year maybe being… well, AMAZING. That when you look back in time (like 5, 10, 50 years from now)… the end of 2025 is where you began to show up as more of yourself.

You want to feel more confident being the real (imperfect) YOU.

this is my dream for you…

skinny dipping

eating figs

having epic sex with the people you actually want to have sex with

following your dreams

not numbing to the pain of the world, but also not wallowing in it

getting over your privilege shame or survivor’s guilt and accessing your power

time off to rest

tossing out the rulebook of what an ‘adult’ is supposed to look like

making your own rituals, initiating yourself, walking as the medicine you want to see in the world

————————

And I want to invite you to try it on with me for a sec. Ya ready?

What if… this year things go a little differently in your life (and I mean THEY GO REALLY AMAZING). I don’t mean everything goes easy and ‘perfect’ for you — I mean that whatever comes (cause that’s life sometimes), you’ve got the tools and support to handle it. You’re reaching out for (and actually receiving) support in a new way. You’ve got your own back in a new way. You feel clear, you feel alive, you feel present.

You feel the relief (and joy) of being more of the real YOU.

Fast forward to December 2024 (yes, all the way forward)… and you’ve got a big sister you trust + adore on speed dial!!

You know that no question/feeling/experience could ever be too ‘weird’ or whatever — and you finally feel like you have a soft place to land that isn’t your family or your friends… it’s with a big sister who really get what it’s like to be the complex, ever-evolving, magical YOU.

More than that, you’re actually taking this (BADASS YOU!) into your day-to-day life, because you’ve got the sustained support to make it real. The dream you had about that one (or more…) things not feeling so hard in your life… it’s actually happened. You’re here. You’re you. You’re kinder to yourself.

“Being mentored by Eliza is like coming home to yourself. I always felt like ‘too much’ in my friendships — and finally, here’s a place with a mentor where I can just be my real, imperfect self.”

— Emily, age 20

My Unique Approach to Mentoring:

ALL OF YOU MATTERS

Not just your thoughts. Or your convenient ‘good’ parts. Or the neat story you can tie in a bow about how you ‘recovered’ or ‘figured your life out’. I welcome you here in the ‘messy middle’ of your life. It all matters.

Your Body Matters.

Your unfelt feelings. Your chronic body symptoms. Your worries. Your aches and pains. Your unresolved trauma. Your hopes and yearnings. Your vulnerable sexy earthy desires. Your rebellious, valiant, wise body is welcome here. Nothing to prove, fix or ‘do’. Just a space to be, allow, release, and be held.

Your Soul Matters.

Your mystical yearnings. Your soul rememberings. Your past lives. Your intuitive winks. Your earth witch practices. Your good witch shit. Your bad witch shit. Your wise lineage of belonging. Your forgetting of it all. Your blocking of your third eye. Your witch wound. Your fear they’ll hunt you down and burn you. Your desire to live out in the open: magical AF and real.

Collective Liberation Matters.

Your thread in the big weaving that heals us all and the earth. Your remembering that we’re in this together: interdependent or bust. Your desire that all beings thrive. Your feral cry for social justice. Your hunger that our world LIVE like Black Lives Matter, and Trans kids get space to just be kids. Your knowing that we’ve all got a part to play… and you’re determined not to miss YOURS.

What do we talk about in sessions?

Well, the great news is that each time… it’s up to you!

I’ve been doing this for almost 20 years — and there’s nothing that’s weird or uncomfortable or ‘too much’ for me — I’m here for that real REAL talk. One session we might talk about friend drama, that new type of ice cream you tried out, take a detour into unpacking diet culture, revisit the body affirmations we tried out last session, and end with dreaming about what a magical weekend you’re going to have. Another session we might spend most of it practicing tools for coping with stress and anxiety.

Some mentees come in with clear goals and agendas for our calls (i.e. ‘this is what I want to talk about, Eliza!!’), and some mentees know they want a supportive space and then together we see what comes up — month after month.

Wanna hear some of my specific areas of expertise?

  • anxiety, stress, and overwhelm

  • body image and healing from diet culture

  • sex positivity and sex ed

  • how to make your period not suck

  • going from friend drama to nourishing community

  • how to talk to adults so they actually listen ;)

  • navigating your own complex feelings / sensitivity

  • self-trust, confidence, and general badassery

  • and so much more (ask me about it on our call!)

‘My expectations were really high — and then they were exceeded. Being mentored makes me feel more safe than I dared to hope for. I love how open and relaxed I feel. It’s the best. ’

— Jess, age 22

what’s included in 1:1 mentoring?

my primary approach is to give you at least 6 months of support — not just a few weeks of it — i’ve found that this is where deep transformation happens —

  • Twelve 1:1 50 minute sessions with Eliza on Zoom (two a month), that you schedule based on our mutual availability (I work Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10-2pm EST)

  • 1:1 text and audio support with Eliza in between calls (mentee can message Eliza whenever, Eliza responds weekly during ‘mentor office hours’)

  • Assigned supportive resources from Eliza may include (but not limited to): journaling prompts, videos, books, podcast episodes, home practices, etc. decided with the mentee (based on their learning style)

‘Eliza brings such joy into my life. I love that now I have strategies for when I’m stressed out or overwhelmed. When I’ve had a tough few days and I get to hop on a call with Eliza — it’s just medicine for my heart. Committing to mentoring is really just committing to taking care of myself. What’s more important?’

— Lili, age 23

Who is 1:1 mentoring for?

mentees who are a great fit for 1:1 support often find that:

  • You want a big sister in your back pocket that’s not family or a friend your age… or a therapist you don’t know anything about… someone who gets it and there’s no ‘weird’ questions to ask

  • You love the idea of a few video calls a month and texting/audio support :) you’re like… bring on the support puhlease that I can access online from anywhere

  • You want to show up for yourself and create a positive change in your life

  • You feel comfortable bringing your own goals, intentions and questions to Eliza so that you can co-create the sessions together (!!)

  • You want to keep exploring these topics outside of your sessions with Eliza and you’re excited to dive into whatever practices you and Eliza together decide would be a great fit for you

  • You or your supportive network are able to pay for the mentoring support with ease

  • If you (the participant) are struggling a lot (and aren’t we all sometimes, hello to being human), you’ve got a wonderful support system outside of this mentorship program (for example: a therapist or counselor you love) and this mentorship is one wonderful part of your support system

  • You’re ready to change up your approach (or get more support with it). If doing all the things they tell you to do to be ‘an amazing adult’ was gonna get you there… it would have worked by now.

  • You’ve tried to do all the ‘adulting’ things… but you ‘failed’. Too neuromagical? A rebel with a heart of gold? You’re my people. Let’s find our own way together.

  • You’re mystical AF and you’re tired of keeping it a frickin’ secret!!! Maybe that means you’re a plant witch, or a seer, or you talk to dead people. But you know you’re magical and you’re here for something bigger. You want support in making that happen.

  • You want to feel HELD – and gotten, and understood – in a way that maybe you haven’t experienced much (or at all) before.

  • You like yourself, but you’d like to love yourself more.

  • Your body is your friend… but you’d like her/them to be your lover, your beloved, your confidante, your bestie, your ride or die. You want to be in this for the long haul with your powerful, easy relationship with your body.

  • You want a deeper spiritual practice… but you’re not sure where to go for that, especially as a 20-something that often ends up in a room full of 50-somethings ;) (no shame, it’s just nice to feel normal and less like a weird unicorn).

  • You want to know what your role/job/career is… in a world that’s burning (while also like making enough money to live/thrive and not selling out to the toxic systems that be).

a note for parents/guardians:

DEAR PERSON WHO LOVES A young person SOCIALIZED AS A GIRL,

Eliza here.

I’m so honored that you’re here and considering enrolling your young person in 1:1 mentoring with me. I’m not a therapist (though I love therapy!), I’m a mentor, facilitator, attuned teacher, and professional big sister.

I believe that most schools aren't adequately supporting teens to receive the life skills they need (meaning: emotional, body image, community-based), and that moms/parents/immediate family shouldn't have to do it alone. That's why I created Badass Girls. I’m passionate about there being a generation of teens socialized as girls who grow into adults without the same un-learning and healing to do as generations before them. I’m devoted to our collective evolution.

Our curriculum includes mindfulness exercises, emotional intelligence techniques, somatic tools, 1:1 mentoring, and the Mothering & Daughtering relational approach. I place a special emphasis throughout our programming on the experience of being in a body, as our mainstream culture often strongly emphasizes a brain-focused approach to being a human. I believe that when given nourishing space to be themselves, young people (and all humans) naturally move towards deeper wellness. Here’s one way to say it: if a flower doesn’t bloom, we don’t say ‘oh, it’s a bad flower’, we change its’ pot and get it more sunshine/water. So, I’m here to be part of your young person’s nourishment plan. I believe the experience of belonging is an essential nutrient.

As you might imagine (seeing as I co-created the Mothering & Daughtering approach), I’m super pro-parent over here, or #teamparent as I call it. I know just how much our teens thrive when their relationship with the adults in their life is thriving! So what does that mean practically (beyond the curriculum I teach your kid)? I love connecting with parents! You’ve got confidential email access to me throughout the whole program (I love hearing from you because then I get to support your girl even better!). If we need to hop on a call together, we totally will! :)

Here’s to creating a magical experience for your young person to feel more at home in themselves!

Love,

Eliza

SOME WORDS FROM PARENTS:

(who’ve supported their young adults To mentor WITH ME)

My girl is becoming her true self, beyond what I’ve been able to accomplish for myself over 50 years.
— Aviva, mom of 17 year old
My daughter found her voice in a new way. She feels heard, valued, and encouraged by this circle. She belongs to herself.
— Sheryl, mom of 17 year old
Every time my daughter circles up with Eliza, she comes back with higher self esteem.
— Rachel, mom of 15 year old
Badass Girls was way more effective and positive for our daughter than therapy (and I’m a psychologist!) and frankly more cost effective in the end.
— Caitlin, mom of 16 year old
As a parent, I LOVE knowing a mentor I trust has my girl’s back. She’s still connected to her friends, but I see her making her decisions from a wiser place.

She turns to Eliza to ask ANY question whenever she feels stuck, insecure or lonely.

Badass Girls is changing the world, one girl at a time. She’s got a big sister on call for all of life’s ups and downs.
— Erika, mom of 16 year old
Eliza taught my girl (in a way that I could not) that self acceptance, love and care are not only essential, but also smart and cool.
— Sarah, mom of 17 year old

FAQ:

  • What gender identities do you work with? Women? Men? Non-binary and gender expansive folks?

I work with all gender identities — and my clients are folks socialized as girls, or assigned female at birth. My own experience and the core of my trainings mean that’s what most alive for me and what I’m best suited to support is folks for whom the experience of ‘girlhood’ had a profound impact on their childhood and teenage years.

  • What ages do you mentor? How old do you have to be (or young)?

I mentor young adults age 18-25ish.

  • Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. 6 months and 12 months.

  • Can I add in additional 1:1 calls to my mentoring package?

I do a minimum of 2 1:1 calls a month, and sometimes meet weekly with folks if it’s the right fit —

  • I’m a parent of a young adult and I want them to work with you — but I’m not sure they’d be into it… what do I do?

Oh, my love, this is SO common! Most people don't really know how to conceive of a ‘professional big sister’ — since it’s so different from other forms of mental health support they may be aware of. Layer that on with — sometimes a suggestion from a well-intentioned parent doesn’t always go smoothly! My nudge: schedule an exploratory call solo, and I’ll coach you in how to bring it up with your young adult — then… they can schedule their own call with me if they want.

  • What’s your refund policy?

Due to the limited space and delivery nature of the program, there are no refunds. In extenuating circumstances, we may be able to offer program credit.

‘Eliza doesn't just try to be relatable like your weird school guidance counselor or that therapist your mom sent you to does. Eliza actually breaks down the barriers. She asks you to be yourself — I feel so accepted. Being mentored is like a whole new world — away from the cage of like normal ‘teen girl’ problems — it’s being free.’

— Cady, age 18

more about eliza

Eliza [she/they] is a best-selling author, speaker, workshop facilitator, and professional big sister who keeps it real. Since the age of 15 she’s been teaching at workshop centers and conferences (like the Omega Institute, Esalen Institute, Kripalu Center, and the Emerging Women Conference) alongside leaders 4 times her age. She’s the co-author of the best-selling book with her mom, “Mothering & Daughtering: Keeping Your Bond Strong Through the Teen Years” (she wrote the sassy side for teen girls).

For almost 15 years, Eliza’s writing, speaking and teaching has called B.S. on the cultural stereotype that teen girls are selfish, mean, vapid, and image-obsessed. Instead, she gives voice to, celebrates, and creates spaces for teen girls’ sensitivity, wacky weird passions, feisty comebacks, fierce truths, tender hearts, sensual embodiment, and full-out, real-talk, whole, imperfect, ever-evolving self expression.

Eliza was trained as a Peer Educator for Planned Parenthood in High School, and was a consultant for Eve Ensler, (“Vagina Monologues,”) on her book for teenage girls: “I Am an Emotional Creature” (so you could say she specializes in making awkward & important topics cool & normal). Eliza graduated from Brown University with an undergraduate degree in Gender & Sexuality Studies, and is a certified a Qoya movement teacher. Her deepest pride is her relationship with her self, especially her tender friendship with her own anxiety. She lives with her partner, Will, in Vermont.
